Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign a Delicious Success

September 23 - September 29, we partnered with Tim Hortons' owners for the annual Smile Cookie Campaign in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Strathmore, Chestermere and Okotoks! It was a great success as everyone enjoyed their tasty cookies while supporting Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) across Calgary.

Tim Hortons donates 100 per cent of the proceeds from the $1 cookies to the Calgary Health Trust to purchase items like: KanMed Beds, which are heated mattress cots, allow easier access to and moving of infants while reducing exposure to light, air conditioning and noise; a Nicolet Monitor, which allows for greatly improved monitoring of brain activity, for helping doctors evaluate very ill newborns who are at risk for brain damage; simulation lab dolls which, with monitors and license, staff can get hands-on, practical experience with life-saving techniques for newborns and the IntelliVue Information Centre iX which enhances monitoring and event review, and enables timely response to bedside alarms so staff have wide-ranging and easy access to vital medical information.

"We are delighted to partner with Tim Hortons for the fourth year," said Jill Olynyk, CEO of Calgary Health Trust. "The owners' committment to the community and generosity to the NICUs throughout the city has been overwhelming."

Country 105.1's Odd Squad helped kick off the week, interviewing families for their morning show who had been deeply impacted and helped by the NICU. "The staff were amazing; calm and reassuring and now we have two great boys," said mom Karey Ramsay

This year, the Tim Hortons Coffee Cruiser visited Peter Lougheed Centre, Foothills Medical Centre, Rockyview General Hospital and South Health Campus selling cookies, taking donations and giving away coffees. The visits were a hit and Smile Cookies sold out on each occasion. Social media was also ablaze with Smile Cookie content, many users taking the opportunity to post pictures of and express their appreciation for the chocolate chip cookies with delicious icing smile.Get Your Smile Cookie On and Support Calgary NICUs
