Canada's Top Chef All Star Nicole Gomes Raises $45K for Foothills NICU

During her run on the show, Top Chef Canada All-Star winner Nicole Gomes graciously hosted viewing parties in support of the Foothills Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Calgary. With the help of local businesses and customers of her restaurant ‘Cluck N Cleaver’, she successfully raised over forty-five thousand dollars for the cause.

The funds raised by Nicole were specifically for the purchase of much needed critical care equipment. All of the proceeds yielded from her three viewing parties will purchase 11 of the necessary syringe machines for Calgary’s NICU babies. “It was something tangible I could do. Buy a piece of equipment and give it to them,” she explained at the cheque presentation.

The syringe pump precisely controls the delivery of its contents by controlling the advancement of the syringe plunger.This equipment helps effectively administer enteral feedings for the babies.

"The newborns we are entrusted to care for need some of the most specialized care and equipment. Equipment like that which Nicole is helping us to purchase is a critical part to the advanced care we provide, not only giving our newborns a chance to survive, but to thrive throughout their lives,” said Pauline Lai, Foothills NICU Manager.

Nicole recently represented Calgary winning the All Star title in the 5th season of Top Chef. She profusely thanked Calgary and the community for the support she has received for this initiative and throughout the competition.
