Taking volunteering to heart
Giving back to the community comes in many forms. The Heart to
Heart Support Society is a dedicated volunteer group that's been
involved in various activities for Calgary Health Trust since 1994.
Often, you'll see members of the group helping out in the Calgary
Health Trust office, participating in activities such as stuffing
envelopes for events, direct mail campaigns and sponsorship
packages and helping to ensure everything gets out the door on
time. Other times, members of the group are busy volunteering at
casino nights to raise funds for priority cardiac projects Calgary
Health Trust is fundraising for. Many of the members also
offer to volunteer on an individual basis for Calgary Health Trust
events.
"The Heart to Heart Support Society firmly believes in giving
back to health programs as a result of the care we [the members]
received when we were receiving care for cardiac issues," explains
Glen Clark, Past President of the Heart to Heart Support Society.
"We are happy to step up and help Calgary Health Trust wherever
help is needed, whether it's to stuff envelopes for events or to
help raise money for the Trust at past events like the Sport Chek
Mother's Day Run and Walk or the Sunridge Mall gift wrapping
campaign during Christmas."
Founded in 1985, Heart to Heart serves its members and hundreds
of cardiac patients and their family and friends every year.
Originally established to support and encourage heart attack
sufferers, The Heart to Heart Support Society is a group of
Calgarians who have all dealt with heart problems at some point in
their lives. The group goes around and visits patients in cardiac
care to provide motivation and inspiration to patients and also
participates in fundraising events to raise money for cardiac units
throughout the city.
Calgary Health Trust thanks the Heart to Heart Support Society
for all of the support they've shown the Trust over the years. For
