The Opening of the Addictions and Mental Health Medication Clinic

Kristin McVeigh | November 23, 2017

We were so proud that because of you, our donors, we were able to be part of the opening of the Addictions and Mental Health Medication Clinic.

The Adult Psychosis and Early Psychosis Intervention Programs, see approximately 1,110 registered patients every year. Of
these individuals more than 275 registered patients receive medication. Until now, most injections were done in separate clinics by different nurses without any centralization. Patients were required to arrange their injections through their case managers or a physician.

Thanks to the power of partnerships, a centralized injection clinic has been made possible. This space will provide:
• patients with more timely access to their medication;
• a reduction in overlap of care; and
• an opportunity to observe patients starting medication without the need for admissions.

This centralized clinic will create standardized clinical protocols for long-acting medications that will lead to improved outcomes for both patients and staff.
